Hot off the press! Nicole Curtis the Rehab Addict from DIY Network and HGTV was asked to be featured in the October issue of Minneapolis St. Paul Home Magazine. I was honored as being selected to do the photographs for this feature. I am trying to get my hands on an issue of this magazine which comes out October 1st. This is an iPhone pic of the PDF they sent me. Stay turned. I am increadly happy about this step forward and that I was given the opportunity to help create this beautiful 4 page spread. So blessed.

One of my most common requests when asked to photograph a one year old - is a cake smash. Mom's love their little babies getting all messy and looking all cute fully covered in cake.
Some photographers who have studios have these as packages - me? I take advantage of many of Minneapolis's beautiful parks and its even better when there is a lake. Quick dunk in the water makes an easy clean up.
We had spent the first half of M's photoshoot running around chasing this active little girl. I was convinced that she was not going to be interested in her cake. No way would this little chica sit still and eat cake. Boy was I wrong! As soon as she realized what was going on and that it was OK to put her hands, feet etc. into the cake. She was all for it. But baby M's favorite part? Sharing cake with her dad. Photos of that coming next. So stinking cute.
So hey - enjoy this Saturday night - maybe we all should go get messy with a little cake on this beautiful night! You interested?
I will be the one covered in cake at the park ;-)
Till tomorrow,

So my great friend Jodi & her husband Jon are blessed to be the parents to this little beauty. Both mom and dad are very intelligent people and it is no shocker that their baby is growing up to already be a smart little cookie. Seriously - this chicka is only 1 years old and already knows some sign language and is able to tell mom her wants and needs.
Lets talk about a woman on the go! This baby was active - up down left right sidewise backwards - you name it!
So when Jodi came to me with the idea - inspired by Pinterest - and said lets do her one year photos outside with balloons and a cake smash. I was all for it - but baby M had her own agenda.
Her agenda was - I want to run, play, stand, move, watch the dogs, try to grab the dead fish on the grass, pull the grass and then run some more. She was a total hoot. Try telling a smart 1 year old - hey sit still with these balloons while I take your picture? Yah she was too smart for any trickery - haha. We were able to get this quick shot before she took off running away with the balloons up into the trees.
This little girl has a special place in dad's heart too - such a daddie's girl - I will share the whole session later - but the love she had for her daddy brought tears to my eyes as we were shooting them together. Love. Love. Love.
Jodi & Jon I can't wait to show you the rest of these amazing photos of your beautiful baby on the go!

So seriously I need to get better at blogging. Blogging is great - its simple and it showcases the work I do instantly. People who follow blogs have heard this a million times - Today stikes the day I will blog more. Hahah. Here I do.
Most of you probably dont know that I do nearly 100% of my own website updates - I work with the talented Jon Ruprecht from Nock Design Group for my website framework and he is teaching me how to update it my self. He created thsi beauty and desiged my logo - and is working on an awesomly creative new brand for Ariel Photography that will be reveleaved soon! In the mean time.... trust me - this website is a work in progress! I thought I was a computer geek - but have realized I have tons to learn!
So onto my post today- I love this photo. Macro photography has become my most favorite part of photography. I am seriously obsessed with tiny little details. I want to see the tiny little finger nails, the little noses, the hair on their ears and the list could go on. Will this mom print these images? Maybe. But will she cherish the images of those tiny little toes and fingers later on when this little guy has gown up and those feet are now a size 10- absolutely.
Have a blessed rest of the day!
